After migrating a virtual maching running Centos linux from a failing XenServer cluster, to a Hyper-v based cluster, on boot, it hungs with a blinking cursor.

Although there can be different reasons for this, in my case the problem was with the rhgb=quiet kernel boot parameter. Changed it to console=tty0 and the boot process continued normally.

Other obstacles you could face are
- different disk device naming. From hdx to sdx
- eth0 network interface not working. Add a new one eth1.
